Blue Sapphire

Blue Sapphire

Classic blue color

Blue Sapphire is the quintessential blue gem that everyone knows. Colors can range from blue to greenish-blue or even a purplish-blue. They can have light pastel colors all the way through to deep inky tones.

Sapphires and Rubies are actually the same mineral – corundum. Pure Corundum is colorless; the trace elements iron and titanium make Sapphires blue.

Sapphires are routinely treated to improve their clarity and color. Finding Natural, unheated stones is relatively rare which generally makes them more valuable.

Principal mining locations for Blue Sapphire are Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Burma, Thailand, Australia and Kenya.

They are durable gemstones with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs Scale and can easily be used in all types of jewelry.

Sapphires are September’s birthstone and their variety of colors offers so much choice! They also celebrate the 5ᵗʰ and 45ᵗʰ Anniversaries.
